tools:
phillips screwdriver(cordless drill)
wire strippers
crimpers
electrical tape
star(or torx bit set) and a universal screwdriver to place the bits in
spaded ring terminals, crimp caps
first you will need a radio,
metra, american international and scosche make a dash kit for the sentra, but i would recc. trying to find the american international one, its a much better quality and better fitment....
you will need a wire harness as well that can be bought at Best Buy, Circuit City, PC Richards, or Crutchfield
start by opening the top bin, place your finger tips at the lip of the top bin and pull the whole fixture towards you, it will just pop foward, lift it up and place it ontop of your dashboard so it is out of the way...
next look at the trim piece surrounding the map pocket(or 6 disc changer if equipped) you can see the seam where it meets with the HVAC controls, Place your hands on both sides of the driver and passenger piece where it wraps around(or use a panel popping tool) and pull this piece towards you as well, its a bit hard to get offhttp://www.lituners.net/images/smilies/eek.gif but it will come loose....
now you will see 2 phillips screws on top and 2 on the bottom, you dont need to remove the 2 that you see to the left and right of the HVAC controls...
remove these four and the whole radio housing with the pocket and HVAC controls comes out, disconnect the harnesses from the radio and pull completely out,
MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT SCRATCH YOUR SHIFTER OR THE CUP HOLDERS, THE BOTTOM OF THAT METAL FRAME IS SHARP! IF YOU HAVE AN AUTOMATIC TRANS PLACE YOU SHIFTER IN THE DRIVE POSITION, IF MANUAL PLACE IT IN 4TH GEAR...
remove the 2 torx bit screws on either side of the stock radio to remove it from the metal frame...now uncclip the radio from the trim bezel that surrounds the HVAC controls, you will see two tabs, one on either side below the radio and above the bezel towards the front of the radio on the left, and right side...
wire up your harness and match up the colors,
yellow-constant 12v
red-ign switch
black-ground
gray - + speaker
gray/black- - speaker
white- + speaker
white/black- - speaker
purple- + speaker
purple/black- -speaker
green- + speaker
green/black- - speaker
orange and orange/black- NOT USED
blue- power antenna (not used)
blue/white- amp turn on
black/white - tapp this into your ground wire, its the amp ground wire
make sure you hook up the blue white wire to the blue white on the radio's harness if you have the Rockford Audio Package in the vehicle...
when wiring is complete you will see the black wire is your ground, place a spaded terminal crimp on the end (make sure you have alot of slack to this wire) and position it behind the plastic and infront of the metal opening where one of the phillips screws goes into to ground it..
nissans use an antenna ground and aftermarket decks need a chassis ground for bettter performance...
to assemble just do the revers order, and your all done!
enjoy your new deck!
